We are seeing a big upswing in chronic diseases today – heart disease, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, Candida, and arthritis are perhaps the most common.

Chronic Pain is common to many of these conditions.

Hormonal imbalances are also common. A competent evaluation encompasses not just estrogen and testosterone, but also the master hormone – thyroid.

Sports injuries, bulging discs, sprains and more can be treated successfully with light, voltage, trigger point injections, Krauss Principals and hormones.

Thyroid is the master hormones. With too little, the body doesn’t have enough energy to keep all its parts running at full potential. Thyroid also has a tremendous influence on muscles, connective tissue such as tendons and ligaments, fatigue, dry skin…  low thyroid can even be the reason people have thinning hair as they get older.

The Tennant Biomodulator is one of the easiest, most effective ways to bring about healing.

For sports injuries and athletes, we offer a number of different protocols and packages. Dr. Starr utilizes Hans Kraus’ exercises and therapeutic approaches, including immediate mobilization of sprains, strains, and some fractures. Trigger point injections into muscles and ligaments, followed by electric stimulation, gentle exercises, laser treatments (Meditech-Bioflex lasers), and the Tennant Biomodulator often result in rapid resolution (1 week to 2 months) of both acute and chronic injuries. The costs of these treatments depend on the severity and chronicity of the problem. A minimum of several hundred dollars to $1000 a week for more intensive daily treatments may be required or optional. Dr. Starr must see the patient to evaluate the extent of required treatments. Patients should not expect to fly in one day for a chronic pain problem and leave the next day feeling relieved.

Dr. Starr’s fee is $300 per hour. Adults require a minimum of one hour, children often require less time. Patients with more severe chronic health problems usually require 1 and 1/2 hours for the initial visit. For most patients seeking proper thyroid and other hormone treatments, Dr. Starr will see patients every 3 months for the first 6 to 9 months until the final dosage of thyroid is reached and the patients have made significant improvements. Once on a stable dosage, one follow up 6 months later and then yearly follow up appointments are required. Out of town patients may do phone consults every 3 months as their thyroid is gradually increased but are required to be seen in person once a year.

It is very difficult to treat the chronically ill successfully with only one visit and many patients need to be seen in person more than once during the first year to make significant improvement.

Many patients benefit from a second appointment the next day in order to review the treatment plan and to finish diagnostic testing. There is no charge for the second appointment to review the plan and cost estimates. The vast majority of treatment costs will be incurred during the first year. Many people will only require a yearly visit that is 1/2 hour ($150) after the first year. Medications and supplement costs vary from person to person.

Testing includes blood work such as complete blood count (CBC), complete metabolic panel (CMP), ferritin levels for all menstruating women and those with a history of anemia, thyroid antibody testing (TPO and thyroglobulin), TSH, and sometimes free T3 and free T4. Dr. Starr treats patients, not blood tests. Thyroid testing need not be repeated for most patients, except when problems arise. We accept blood work as long as it has been performed within 6 months of the initial visit. We have lab facilities and perform testing when necessary. Since Dr. Starr does not accept insurance, the costs of our lab tests are a fraction of those done at regular laboratories. An EKG is required on all adults over 40 (within 6 months or done by our clinic for $50). We do Bioelectric Impedance Analysis testing regularly. It reveals whether or not patients’ diet and water intake is adequate for optimum health. We utilize a Meridian Energetic Analysis Device to measure the patients’ total body voltage and the energy of every meridian. Click here for additional information about voltage and energetic testing. Dr. Starr is a licensed distributor of the Tennant Biomodulator and offers treatments in his clinic.

Dr. Starr does not accept insurance because he and his patients prefer not to have a third party dictate treatment. Patients are given a super bill with diagnostic codes and may submit the charges to their insurance companies. Different companies respond differently.

A growing number of athletes require several months of thyroid therapy prior to beginning protocols to resolve chronic injuries.
